First off, I want to let you know how happy and thankful I am that you have actually found me and are taking the time to read this post! This is my very first ever blog post. Holy mackerel! It may be a little raw at the moment, but stick with me because great things are soon to come here at Justbinnovative.com.
On this blog, I plan to share with you some great ideas in all things crochet. I want to share with you some of my favorite places to look and go to for patterns, help, and ideas to grow your crochet repertoire. Aside from crochet, I want to give you another outlook on overall health and well-being. I will introduce some fun and rewarding alternatives to exercise and getting healthy. I will show you how I and even you can enjoy life and create balance even when shit can be stressful. Believe me, I know stress like no other. Raising a family and owning a business can be a task. (I know, I know, “First World Problems!”) Overall I just want to share with you some really amazing things I like to do that makes me happy and I think can make you happy too. Especially if you are a super busy woman trying to make it in this crazy world and/or a Mom trying to find balance at home, work, and overall life. Then, this blog is just for you!
What makes me, me
Well I guess I will start from the beginning… Brace yourself for an epic story! Just kidding. If you read this entire thing you are pretty darn awesome and have some stellar patience I tell you what.
I was raised in a dairy town called Chino in Southern California. There are no dairies there anymore though. But there is still a cow smell! I am the youngest of three girls. I guess you could say that I was a “spoiled rotten brat” since I was the baby of the family. Maybe that is where I got my entrepreneurial attitude? Maybe not, who knows. I would sell and trade anything with my friends and sisters, especially during Halloween with my candy! I had a lemonade stand every summer. I had no problem going door to door to sell girls scout cookies or candy for my soccer team. When I was 12 years old, I wanted a horse. (what little girl doesn’t right?) My parents figured it was a phase and told me I would have to prove to them that I wanted one. And, if I were to get a horse, I would have to take care of it and pay for all its care. So, I did just that. I went to my stable every day and cleaned stalls, horses, and tack just to ride. I started working at my local stable taking people on horseback rides for $20 a day. Eventually I found a horse that was perfect and by “perfect” I mean for sale. After many months, I talked my parents into purchasing that horse. That was just the beginning. I continued to have many jobs to get me the things I wanted as I was growing up. I think I have had almost every job you can think of. From working at my stables, to fast food and restaurants, to office jobs, vet offices, and so on. I eventually went back to school to become a body worker for horses. Which then brought me to massage school for people. It was just a side job to help me pay for my horse shows at the time. I never thought it would ever really take me anywhere. In 2007, my boyfriend (now life partner or husband or whatever you want to call him) and I were jokingly talking about Lake Tahoe and that we should move there. Ha-ha ya right! Like we could live there. Well, we both loved the outdoors, loved snowboarding and both grew up spending our vacations camping throughout the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. So why not? I could really do massage anywhere and my boyfriend was able to do his work anywhere too. To entertain our idea we went to Lake Tahoe to “look” at housing. Well of course we found an amazing place and the next thing you know we were on our way to moving to Lake Tahoe! We both got jobs in our field of work. We brought his son with us who was 5 at the time and talked two of his friends to room with us to help cover costs and have the experience of living in a mountain town. We spent the winter and had a great time snowboarding a ton. I worked at a spa doing massage and worked on growing my clientele. Our first year was the hardest as we didn’t know very many people and we didn’t make a lot of money and had my step son to take care let alone ourselves. But we pushed through and continued to work our butts off. I then went back to school to be an esthetician and do skin care to compliment my massage work and broaden my practice. A couple more years go by and I am beginning to generate a nice little clientele. Of course, I start thinking of opening my own place and start generating ideas of how to make this happen. A colleague of mine was in the same boat and we both talked about it and then the next thing you know the two of us are actually opening a massage and skin care spa in Lake Tahoe! A couple years go by and our business is doing actually very well. But as things go, you cannot stop change. In the spring of 2013 I became pregnant. Even though we were not trying to have another kid, we were not not trying to get pregnant either. Things were going well and if it happened then we would be happy about it. I had a pretty easy pregnancy but not a very easy labor and delivery… I was two weeks past my due date and I had to be induced. I labored for 26 hours and ultimately ended up having to have a cesarean anyway. I had a healthy baby boy, But I however, was still struggling. I passed out during the c-section and was not even awake for the delivery… After, I ended up having a horrible spinal headache from the epidural. I ultimately was in the hospital for almost a week and ended up back in the emergency room to have a blood patch to fix the pain I was having from when they did my epidural.
Enough of the drama. It has now been just over 9 years since we moved to Lake Tahoe, and I now have my Husband (partner), my step-son (now 15 years old) , my 3 year old monster (I mean son), and our only other lady in the house our chocolate lab (norma). We have great friends. I have a wonderful business that is doing well for a small in business in Lake Tahoe, despite the challenges of owning and operating a business and managing employees (but that is another blog in itself! LOL).
As if this is all not enough, I cannot help but feel I want to do more. So here I am diving in and starting a blog of my very own. I hope you enjoy it and perhaps learn or find something useful and helpful or funny or maybe it is just plain old reading material while you are on the toilet or maybe breast feeding your little one in the middle of the night. Either way, thank you for finding me and I look forward to hearing from you and any advice, tips, feedback, etc. you may have.
